A 20-year-old woman is the latest person to face court over her alleged involvement in a terrifying drive-by shooting in Sydney's western suburbs earlier this year, an incident that saw more than thirty rounds fired into a family home.
Brazen Attack on Family Home
The shocking event unfolded in the early hours of Friday, May 9, 2025. Police were called to Frank Street in Mount Druitt after reports of gunfire around 1.15am. Initial investigations revealed that an unknown gunman, travelling in a dark-coloured hatchback, had unleashed a hail of bullets into a residential property.
Seven adults and four young children were inside the home at the time of the attack. Miraculously, no one was physically injured. Authorities stated from the outset that the shooting was a targeted attack, aimed at one specific occupant who is known to police. The house had also been targeted in a previous incident.
Strike Force Investigation Leads to Arrests
The case was taken up by the State Crime Command's Criminal Groups Squad under Strike Force Evere. Their investigation led to the arrest and charging of two men earlier this month, who remain before the courts.
The probe continued, culminating at 6am on Tuesday when strike force detectives, assisted by the Raptor Squad, executed a search warrant at a home in Mount Druitt. There, they arrested the 20-year-old woman.
Serious Charges Laid
The woman was subsequently charged with multiple serious offences, including:
- Firing a firearm at a dwelling
- Participating in a criminal group
- Possessing an unregistered non-prohibited firearm
She was refused bail and was scheduled to appear before the Bail Division Court on Wednesday.
The arrests highlight the ongoing efforts of NSW Police to combat gun violence and organised criminal activity in the community. The fact that eleven people, including four young children, were placed in extreme danger by this alleged act has underscored the serious nature of the charges.
