Police are appealing for public assistance following a suspicious shed fire in Rosslea, a suburb of Townsville, early Tuesday morning.
Incident Details
Emergency services were called to the scene on Ross River Road around 2:30am after reports of a structure fire. Upon arrival, fire crews found a shed fully engulfed in flames. The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes, but the shed was completely destroyed.
No injuries were reported, and nearby properties were not damaged. However, the incident has raised concerns among local residents.
Police Investigation
Detectives from the Townsville Criminal Investigation Branch have declared the fire suspicious and are treating it as a potential arson. Forensic officers were deployed to the scene to gather evidence.
Police are urging anyone who was in the area around the time of the fire, or who may have dashcam footage, to come forward. They are particularly interested in a dark-colored sedan seen leaving the vicinity shortly before the fire was reported.

Local residents expressed shock at the incident. One neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, said they heard a loud noise and saw flames. “It was terrifying. The fire spread so quickly,” they said.
The shed is believed to have been used for storage, and the owner is cooperating with police.
