A man is fighting for his life after an alleged stabbing at a caravan park in northern Victoria. Emergency services responded to a brawl at the caravan park located on Waverley Avenue in Merrigum, west of Shepparton, around 3:45 AM on Friday.
Police Response
Upon arrival, police discovered several individuals believed to be under the influence of alcohol walking throughout the park. Inside one of the cabins, officers found a critically injured man. Paramedics treated the 30-year-old victim at the scene before he was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Arrests Made
Two men were arrested nearby in connection with the incident. They include a 28-year-old from Cootamundra in New South Wales and a 51-year-old from Merrigum. Police also recovered a knife from the scene.
Detectives from the Shepparton Crime Investigation Unit are leading the investigation and will interview the two men regarding the alleged stabbing. Officers from the Major Crime Scene Unit are attending to process the scene and gather forensic evidence.
Authorities are appealing for anyone with information or CCTV footage to come forward and contact police. The investigation remains ongoing as the victim continues to receive medical treatment.
