Federal Government Unveils 'Every Little Bit Helps' Campaign Amid Fuel Crisis
The federal government is launching a comprehensive public information campaign titled "Every Little Bit Helps" to guide Australians through the ongoing fuel crisis, as price and supply pressures continue to weigh heavily on households across the nation.
Campaign Rollout Across Multiple Platforms
The advertisements will play across television, digital platforms, and outdoor advertising sites including billboards and posters starting from Monday. The campaign aims to provide Australians with crucial information on how to contribute during the crisis, which has been exacerbated by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
The campaign details specific actions that individuals can take during the global fuel shortage, including:
- Using personal vehicles less frequently
- Driving smoothly to improve fuel efficiency
- Removing excess weight from vehicles
- Consolidating errands into fewer trips
- Only filling up with the fuel actually needed
Government Communication Strategy
Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government Catherine King emphasized the campaign's importance in communicating the government's strategy to the public. "The global fuel shortage is affecting us all and every little bit helps", she stated.
Minister King further explained: "From running errands in fewer trips to only filling up with the fuel you need, this will help us keep essential services moving. The rollout of this campaign and National Fuel Security Plan ensures that we can get the public the information they need, and keep them updated if and when the situation may change."
National Fuel Security Plan Implementation
The campaign follows the national cabinet's implementation of the National Fuel Security Plan, which features four distinct levels designed to guide Australia through the fuel crisis. According to government officials, Australia is currently operating at level two of this plan.
Level two focuses on maintaining national mobility while establishing foundational measures to help citizens understand appropriate actions while fuel supplies remain available. The government has clarified that this level "signals that instructions will be communicated if and when we move to future levels", indicating a structured approach to potential escalation scenarios.
The comprehensive campaign represents a coordinated effort to address both immediate practical concerns and longer-term strategic planning as Australia navigates the complex challenges presented by the global fuel shortage situation.
