A brand new billion-dollar cruise ship is making waves in the Caribbean, with Celebrity Xcel officially becoming the flagship of Celebrity Cruises’ fleet. The vessel features amenities that rival the world’s best resorts, including heated tile lounges that promise muscle relaxation equivalent to eight hours of sleep after just 40 minutes.
Sunrise reporter Katie Brown, a first-time cruiser, tested the luxurious ship and highlighted the “iconic suite” among its standout features. Laura Hodges Bethge from Celebrity Cruises noted that the ship offers seven new places and spaces, with the bazaar being her personal favorite for its integration of destination authenticity through food, drink, retail, entertainment, and music.
Passengers can engage in unique cultural experiences, such as tropical origami classes to create hummingbirds, Jamaica’s national bird, connecting them to the destinations visited. Brown’s personal highlight was watching the sunset over the water after a day of exploring the ship’s endless activities.
