Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness Slash $14 Million From Luxury Penthouse Price

Hugh Jackman and his ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness have made a dramatic $14 million price reduction on their luxury New York penthouse, as the high-end property continues to struggle in the real estate market following the couple's separation. The Wolverine star and Furness have relisted their sprawling West Village home for $41.67 million, a significant drop from its original asking price of $56.38 million.

Celebrity Property Fails to Attract Buyers

Despite its A-list pedigree, the triplex apartment has failed to secure a buyer since first hitting the market in 2022. The three-level residence, set within a glass-fronted building designed by renowned architect Richard Meier, spans approximately 1000 square meters across three floors. The property features a spectacular double-height living space with floor-to-ceiling windows offering panoramic views of the Hudson River, along with a spiral staircase, multiple terraces, and vistas stretching all the way to the Statue of Liberty.

The home includes four ensuite bedrooms, a library, recreation areas, a professional-grade kitchen, and an entire top-floor master suite complete with a sauna, dressing rooms, and a private studio. However, potential buyers may be deterred by the property's staggering ongoing costs, which exceed $318,879 per month, including more than $68,124 in strata fees alone.

Property History and Post-Split Developments

Jackman and Furness originally purchased the penthouse for $30.43 million in 2008. Since their split in 2023 after nearly three decades together, the former couple has been gradually offloading parts of their property portfolio. In a notable development, Jackman has since announced a new relationship with The Music Man co-star Sutton Foster, with reports indicating the couple has been residing in the penthouse while searching for their ideal family home.

According to sources, Foster expressed reluctance about living in the home Jackman previously shared with his ex-wife. "Sutton is still nervous about taking that big step into Hugh's world," an insider revealed. Subsequent reports suggested Furness was "shattered" to learn that Jackman and Foster were occupying the penthouse, with one source noting, "Deb is shattered knowing Sutton is making the penthouse her own — the place she poured her soul into."

The property's dramatic price reduction highlights the challenges even celebrity-owned real estate can face in competitive markets, particularly when personal circumstances change. The penthouse's luxurious features and prime West Village location have not been enough to overcome buyer hesitation, possibly influenced by both the substantial monthly expenses and the property's association with the couple's highly publicized separation.
