A Sydney mother-of-three, described by her heartbroken family as a selfless and loving parent, has been allegedly murdered alongside her new boyfriend in a domestic violence incident that has shocked the local community.
A Tragic Discovery in Quakers Hill
Anaseini Waqavuki, 38, was found dead with stab wounds in the kitchen of her home on Illabo Street in Quakers Hill over the weekend. Police were called to the address around 5am on Sunday following reports of a disturbance.
Upon arrival, officers also discovered Ms Waqavuki's new boyfriend, Epi Naitini, 30, on a footpath nearby. He had suffered critical stab wounds to his stomach and hands. Mr Naitini was rushed to Liverpool Hospital but could not be saved.
Ex-Partner Charged with Double Murder
Following the incident, police arrested and charged Ms Waqavuki's former partner, 47-year-old Anare Vunitabua, with two counts of murder. The accused did not apply for bail during a court appearance and is scheduled to face court again in February.
The tragedy has left two families grieving and a community in mourning. Ms Waqavuki, who moved to Australia from Fiji to build a better life, is being remembered as a devoted mother.
Remembered as a Selfless and Loving Mother
"The kids really loved her. She was a good mum," said her niece, Georgina Bulenu, in an emotional tribute. She described her aunt as a special person who always prioritised others.
"She always put everybody first, before her. [She was a] people person. Everyone loved her. Always smiling," Ms Bulenu said.
Loved ones have now started a GoFundMe campaign to cover the costs of her funeral in Perth and flights for her children. It is a journey the family said Ms Waqavuki had always hoped would happen under much brighter circumstances.
