The teenager, whose identity remains protected, was stabbed with such precision that the blade came within centimetres of piercing his heart. Emergency services rushed to the Helensvale property around 7:30 PM on Tuesday after reports of a serious assault.
"This was an absolutely brutal attack on a young man simply answering his front door," a Queensland Police spokesperson stated. "The proximity to his heart is what makes this particularly concerning - we're talking millimetres from being a fatal injury."
Paramedics worked frantically at the scene to stabilise the victim before transporting him to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition. Medical staff have described his injuries as life-threatening, though he remains stable under intensive care.
