Missing Girl's Mother Battles Cancer as Family Faces Financial Crisis
Missing Girl's Mother in Palliative Care Amid Family Struggle

The mother of missing Melbourne schoolgirl Bung Siriboon is now battling cancer, a devastating revelation that adds another layer of tragedy to a family already enduring unimaginable pain. Vannida, also known as Nid, was diagnosed with primary central nervous system lymphoma in May 2024 and has undergone multiple rounds of intensive treatment.

Family Faces Overwhelming Financial Pressure

According to close family friend Dyamai Hillard, Nid has now entered palliative care while the family struggles under immense financial strain. Hillard detailed the crisis in a GoFundMe campaign established to support the Siriboon family during this heartbreaking period.

Multiple Tragedies Compound the Situation

"During this time, Fred (Bung's stepfather) also lost his mother and niece and has done everything he can to try to get themselves out of the financial mess they are in," Hillard explained. "It's gotten too heavy, and the bills are piling up. Fred hasn't asked me to do this, but he shared with me that he is in financial crisis."

The family's situation has become increasingly dire, with Hillard noting that contributions would help Fred begin planning Nid's funeral arrangements while addressing mounting debts. "With your help, he can start to plan Nid's funeral, then tackle the mortgage that's on hold and the personal loans they've had to take just to survive this far."

Longstanding Mystery of Bung's Disappearance

This heartbreaking health update represents yet another cruel blow for a family that has spent fifteen years searching for answers about their missing daughter. Siriyakorn "Bung" Siriboon vanished while walking to school in Melbourne's eastern suburbs on June 2, 2011.

Details of the Disappearance

The thirteen-year-old left her family home on Elsie Street in Boronia around 8:25 am and was seen shortly afterward walking toward Albert Avenue. She never arrived at school and failed to return home later that day. Bung has not been seen or heard from since that morning, despite extensive police investigations and community searches.

According to Hillard, Nid has been living in Thailand while Fred remained in Australia to continue working, adding geographical separation to their already overwhelming challenges. The family's ordeal continues as they face Nid's health crisis while maintaining hope for resolution in their daughter's case.

A substantial reward of one million dollars remains available for any information that could shed light on what happened to the teenager, underscoring the ongoing mystery that has haunted Melbourne's eastern suburbs for a decade and a half.
