Critical Crash on Brand Highway Closes Road

Driver Airlifted Following Serious Brand Highway Collision

A man in his 50s is fighting for his life in a Perth hospital after a serious single-vehicle crash on the Brand Highway on Saturday morning. The incident occurred near Boonanarring Road in the Shire of Gingin just before 9am.

Emergency Response and Road Closure

According to reports, the man's car left the roadway and collided with a tree. A major emergency response was immediately launched. Police, the Department of Fire and Emergency Services, and St John WA paramedics all attended the scene. Due to the severity of the incident and the remote location, the RAC rescue helicopter was also dispatched to provide critical care and transport.

The male driver was extracted from the vehicle and airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital for urgent medical treatment. Hospital authorities have confirmed that he remains in a critical condition.

Highway Reopened to Motorists

The crash led to the closure of a section of the Brand Highway to allow emergency crews to work safely and for initial investigations to take place. This caused some disruption for motorists travelling through the area. However, the road has since been cleared and reopened to traffic. Police are investigating the circumstances that led to the vehicle leaving the road.
