Marmion hairdresser Nicole Lamers has been crowned WA/SA Hairdresser of the Year at the 2026 Australian and New Zealand Hair Industry Awards, held in Sydney last week. The award recognises her outstanding talent and contribution to the hairdressing industry across Western Australia and South Australia.
Two Decades of Dedication
Ms Lamers, who has worked in the hairdressing industry for more than two decades, operates Nicole Lamers Creative and previously founded and led a WA salon. Her career has been marked by a commitment to creativity, education, and sustainable business practices.
Growing List of Accolades
The latest honour adds to Ms Lamers's impressive collection of awards, including RAW Australian Hairstylist of the Year, AHIA Education Team of the Year, a 40under40 award, and a Stevie Award for Female Entrepreneur of the Year. She also founded AER Wellness Co, a sustainable Australian haircare brand that was a finalist in several AHIA awards.
Humbled by the Recognition
Ms Lamers said winning the 2026 WA/SA Hairdresser of the Year title was “incredibly humbling”. She noted that the past year had been one of the biggest of her career, making the award feel like a special reward. She expressed hope that her journey inspires other Perth business owners to “back themselves, think bigger, and create opportunities on their own terms”.
Balancing Creativity and Business
Alongside hairdressing, Ms Lamers has pursued education and creative work while building her own sustainable Australian haircare brand. “Balancing creativity with business hasn’t always been easy, but this win is proof that you can build a career that embraces both,” she said.
Industry Praise
Linda Woodhead, founder of Mocha Group, the organisation behind the awards, congratulated Ms Lamers on her achievement. “Her talent, drive, and relentless pursuit of excellence are exactly what this award represents,” Ms Woodhead said. “She stands among our most respected industry ambassadors, setting the benchmark for professionalism and innovation in hairdressing expertise and creativity.”
