A tragic hit-and-run incident north of Brisbane has claimed the life of a teenage girl, with police now launching a major investigation to find the driver who fled the scene.
Emergency Response at Margate Parade
Emergency services rushed to Margate Parade in the suburb of Margate on Monday night after receiving reports that a vehicle had struck a pedestrian. The call came in at approximately 11.27pm.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a 17-year-old girl with life-threatening injuries. They immediately began performing CPR in a desperate attempt to save her. Despite their efforts, the teenager was declared dead a short time later.
Driver Flees the Scene
According to police, the vehicle involved was a white ute that did not stop after the collision. The driver continued from the scene, leaving the fatally injured girl on the road.
