Early Morning Collision at Buchanan Intersection
A serious traffic accident involving a Mazda sedan and a motorcycle has resulted in an 18-year-old driver being charged with multiple offences. The incident occurred just before 6:15am on Saturday at the intersection of Buchanan Road and Valley View Lane in the Hunter region suburb of Buchanan.
Motorcyclist Hospitalised with Leg Injuries
The 56-year-old male motorcyclist involved in the collision sustained significant injuries to his legs. NSW Ambulance paramedics provided treatment at the scene before transporting the man to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition for further medical care.
Police Investigation Leads to Multiple Charges
Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit conducted a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. The teenage driver of the Mazda sedan was taken to hospital for mandatory testing before being transported to Cessnock Police Station for processing.
The 18-year-old has been charged with several serious offences including:

- Not keeping left of the dividing line
The accused teenager was granted conditional bail and is scheduled to appear before Kurri Kurri Local Court next Saturday to face the charges.
