A Sydney man was forced to cling for his life to the bonnet of a moving vehicle during a terrifying road rage incident that unfolded in the city's western suburbs this week.
Shocking footage obtained by 7NEWS shows the moment the confrontation turned dangerous on Binalong Road in Westmead around 4pm Tuesday. The video captures a man desperately holding onto the silver Toyota Camry as it travels down the residential street.
"He was just hanging on for dear life," one witness told 7NEWS, describing the scene as something straight out of an action movie.
The incident reportedly began when the driver of the Toyota allegedly cut off another vehicle. What started as verbal abuse quickly escalated into physical violence when the Toyota driver allegedly assaulted the other motorist.
In a desperate attempt to stop the driver from leaving, the victim jumped onto the bonnet of the moving vehicle. The car continued to travel approximately 100 metres with the man still clinging to the front.
Police Response and Investigation
NSW Police confirmed they're investigating the incident and are speaking with all parties involved. Officers from the Parramatta Police Area Command have taken charge of the case.
"Police were called to Binalong Road, Westmead, following reports of an altercation between two men," a police spokesperson said. "Investigations are ongoing."
Community Shock and Road Safety Concerns
Local residents expressed their horror at witnessing the dangerous incident unfold in their neighbourhood. Many described it as one of the most shocking things they've seen on Sydney roads.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of how quickly road rage situations can escalate into life-threatening scenarios. Road safety advocates are urging drivers to remain calm and avoid confrontation while behind the wheel.
Authorities are continuing their investigation and reviewing available CCTV footage from the area. No charges have been laid at this stage, but police are urging any witnesses to come forward.
