A devastating series of separate road incidents has left six people dead across New South Wales and Victoria during a tragic weekend on Australian roads.
A Series of Fatal Incidents Across NSW
The first fatal crash occurred on Friday afternoon around 4:20 PM on River Road in Northwood, located on Sydney's North Shore. An elderly woman lost her life at the scene, while her passenger was transported to hospital fighting for their life.
Less than an hour later, at approximately 5:00 PM, a 57-year-old woman died in a single-vehicle accident in remote western NSW. Her car left Premer Road in Tambar Springs and slammed into bushland.
The tragic run of incidents continued into the evening. Around 6:30 PM on the busy Newell Highway at Tomingley in Western NSW, a 33-year-old man was killed in what police described as a freak accident. The fatal incident occurred when a trailer disconnected from a vehicle.
The final NSW fatality happened later that night near the Victorian border. A 39-year-old man was killed in a two-car collision on Rockton Road at Rockton at about 10:00 PM.
Victoria's Saturday Morning Tragedies
The following morning, the road toll rose in Victoria. In Melbourne's west, a pedestrian was hit by a car at the intersection of Geelong Road and Docklands Highway in Brooklyn. This incident occurred at approximately 4:30 AM on Saturday.
Later that morning, in the state's east, a truck driver lost his life when his vehicle left the Henty Highway at Rocklands and crashed into a tree. This final fatality was reported around 11:00 AM.

All six individuals died at their respective crash sites, paramedics and police unable to save them. The shocking cluster of incidents has prompted renewed calls for road safety as investigations into the precise causes of each crash continue.
