Perth Car Enthusiasts Rev Up for Hot Wheels Legends Tour Opportunity
Perth car enthusiasts are revving their engines with excitement over a unique chance to have their cherished vehicles immortalised as the newest Hot Wheels toy. The wildly popular collectable brand, synonymous with vintage and modern car fans for decades, is offering locals the opportunity to transform their favourite four wheels into a store-bought product.
Global Competition Returns to Australia and New Zealand
The Hot Wheels Legends Tour is back in Australia and New Zealand after a two-year hiatus, marking a highly-anticipated return that gives passionate car builders a platform to showcase their skills on a global stage. Entrants can submit their prized vehicles into the competition, pitting vintage restorations or modern masterpieces against a nation of avid rev-heads for the honour of becoming the face of Hot Wheels' latest release.
Top entrants will progress to regional finals, with the cream of the crop advancing to compete against the world's best in the global grand finale. The ultimate prize is the chance to have their car immortalised as a 1:64 Hot Wheels die-cast car, which will be sold internationally.
Judging Criteria and Creative Freedom
Open to a diverse range of builds, competitors are encouraged to get creative, from classic restorations and muscle cars to unique, one-off creations. Entries will be judged based on authenticity, creativity, and garage spirit, emphasising the passion and dedication behind each project.
Paul Faulkner, managing director of Mattel APAC, expressed enthusiasm for showcasing Australia's creative automotive talent. "Hot Wheels Legends Tour is a global competition where car enthusiasts can have their design created into a 1:64 die-cast car, just like our New Zealand winner did three years ago," he said. "This year, for the first time, we're going to have a regional finale live, as part of the global competition. It's where car enthusiasts can get up close and personal. Judges are looking for three things — authenticity, creativity, and garage spirit. Bring that to us in vintage cars, restorations, whatever crazy you can come up with."
Entries Open for Global Showcase
Entries are now open for car lovers to display their prized possessions on an international platform. Wayne Bryant, chief merchandise and growth officer at Repco, highlighted the personal significance of these projects. "For so many enthusiasts, their car isn't just a project, it's years of sacrifice, learning and obsession brought to life," he said.
This competition not only celebrates automotive innovation but also offers a rare opportunity for Perth's car community to gain worldwide recognition through a beloved toy brand.
