Murder charge laid after body found on NSW South Coast over a year ago
Man charged with murder over 2024 North Nowra death

A 29-year-old man is facing a murder charge after the body of another man was discovered on the New South Wales South Coast more than a year ago.

Arrest and Additional Charges

The accused was arrested by police at a residence in North Nowra around 5:45pm on Monday. As well as the serious charge of murder, he was also hit with a string of unrelated offences. These include supplying a prohibited drug on an ongoing basis, driving while disqualified, and breaking and entering.

Following his arrest, the man was refused bail and is scheduled to face court.

Discovery of the Victim

The charges stem from the tragic discovery of an unconscious 60-year-old man on December 9, 2024. He was found near a gas pipeline clearing on McMahons Rd in North Nowra.

The victim had suffered serious head injuries. Despite the efforts of attending paramedics, he died at the scene before he could be transported to hospital.

Police Investigation Reveals Altercation

NSW Police Inspector Cath Flood provided details on the incident the following day. She stated that the man was attacked following a dispute near the location where he was later found.

"There was an altercation, that altercation is being investigated with that ongoing matter," Inspector Flood said on Tuesday.

The investigation, which has spanned over a year, ultimately led to this week's arrest and the laying of the murder charge.
