Perth drivers have been issued a safety warning after the city woke to a blanket of fog on Tuesday morning, reducing visibility on roads.
Weather Bureau's Fog Forecast
The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed the conditions, forecasting a partly cloudy day for Tuesday, December 16, 2025. A spokesperson noted there were "areas of thick fog in the early morning with reduced visibility", particularly around the Melville area.
The weather pattern is being influenced by a weak cold front passing the south-west coast. This will be followed by a new ridge building along the coast from Wednesday. Looking ahead, a new west coast trough is expected to form by Friday.
Critical Safety Advice for Motorists
Authorities, including Main Roads WA, have urged all road users to exercise extreme caution. The key advice for drivers includes:
- Driving to the conditions and slowing down.
- Turning headlights on to improve visibility for yourself and other drivers.
- Increasing following distances significantly.
Temperature Outlook for Perth
Despite the cool, foggy start, the city is still tipped to reach a maximum of 30 degrees Celsius today. A slight cool change is expected tomorrow, with Wednesday's top temperature forecast to be around 26C.
With variable conditions expected throughout the week, residents are advised to stay updated with the latest forecasts and traffic alerts.
