Commuters across Perth are facing a disrupted start to the day with significant delays hitting multiple train lines due to technical issues.
Multiple Lines Affected by Technical Faults
Transperth services on the Airport, Ellenbrook, and Midland lines are all running behind schedule. The problems have also spilled over, causing delays on the Fremantle line. While trains continue to operate, they are not adhering to regular timetables.
The issues, reported on the morning of 31 December 2025, are causing headaches for travellers. Passengers are advised to allow considerable extra travelling time and to be aware that delayed trains may not connect with scheduled bus and other train services.
Separate Bushfire Disruption on Mandurah Line
In a separate incident, services on the Mandurah line remain cancelled between Rockingham and Mandurah. This is a result of an ongoing bushfire in the City of Rockingham area.
Replacement buses are operating between Rockingham and Mandurah stations. Transperth has again urged commuters on this part of the network to "please allow extra travelling time" for their journeys.
Advice for Perth Commuters
The dual disruptions mean passengers across the network need to plan ahead. Key advice from authorities includes:
- Allow significant extra time for your entire journey.
- Check for updates on Transperth's official channels before travelling.
- Be prepared for missed connections with other services.
Transperth has not specified when regular services are expected to resume on the lines affected by the technical faults.
