Heavy Fog Blankets Perth, Motorists Warned of Low Visibility

Heavy fog has blanketed Perth, triggering warnings for motorists on their morning commute. Eerie photographs show the CBD all-but covered in fog, with only the tallest buildings visible in the haze. Main Roads has warned that some of the city's major highways are particularly dangerous in such conditions.

Affected Highways

Drivers taking Tonkin Highway between Brand Highway and Great Eastern Highway have been warned to drive carefully, as well as those using Graham Farmer Freeway near East Parade. Northern parts of Perth and the Swan Valley area are among the worst-hit locations.

Safety Advice

Main Roads WA issued an alert Thursday morning warning of heavy fog and urging motorists to drive to the conditions. Due to reduced visibility, drivers are encouraged to switch their headlights on and ensure they keep a safe braking distance. Motorists should also allow additional travel time to reach their destination.

Photographs captured by Andrew Ritchie and Iain Gillespie show the fog enveloping the city, with landmarks barely visible. The fog is expected to lift later in the morning, but commuters are advised to remain cautious until conditions improve.
