Controlled Burns Spark Two Fires in Shire of Murray

Conditions east of Mandurah on Tuesday afternoon remained smoky as authorities issued warnings following two fires sparked by controlled burns in the Shire of Murray.

Fairbridge Fire

The first fire ignited on Monday afternoon around 2:30pm near Fairbridge, generating significant smoke in the area. While the blaze is contained, it is not yet under control. A bushfire advice was updated at approximately 10am on Tuesday. There is no immediate threat to lives or homes, but residents within the advisory area are urged to remain vigilant. Del Park Road remains open, though speed restrictions are in place to ensure firefighter safety.

Barragup Fire

A second bushfire alert was issued for Barragup around 1:43pm on Tuesday. The fire began near Lowline Way and Fiegert Road, with fire crews already on the scene. Again, there is no threat to lives or homes, but nearby residents should stay alert and monitor their surroundings. Both fires originated from nearby controlled burn operations.
