Larry David Takes on American History in New Sketch Comedy

Larry David is back with a typically cranky take on America's first 250 years in Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness, a new sketch comedy series marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The show features an impressive cast, including Jon Hamm, Kathryn Hahn, and Jerry Seinfeld, with a cold open by former President Barack Obama. David brings his signature Curb Your Enthusiasm style to historical scenarios such as Alexander Graham Bell's first phone call and the horrors of trench warfare.

While the series is undeniably star-studded, its sketch comedy format results in uneven quality. David's capacity for semi-innocent offence remains intact, but as with many sketch shows, the hits are mixed with misses. The series is available now on HBO Max.
