Jet Brings Nostalgic Rock to WA: Rottnest Island and Denmark Concerts Announced
Jet's WA Tour: Rottnest Island and Denmark Shows with Little Birdy

Jet Announces Western Australian Tour Dates with Special Guests

The iconic Melbourne rock band Jet is set to deliver a wave of nostalgia to Western Australian audiences this long weekend with two highly anticipated concert performances. The group, which originally formed in 2001, will bring their classic rock sound to Castelli Estate in Denmark on Saturday, followed by a special show at Hotel Rottnest overlooking Thomson Bay on Sunday.

This marks the first time Jet has ever performed on the picturesque Rottnest Island, with guitarist and vocalist Cam Muncey expressing excitement about the unique venue. "I know we're getting a light aircraft out to Rottnest Island, and a ferry back," Muncey revealed, adding that he appreciates Western Australia for its distinctive local music scene and atmosphere.

What Fans Can Expect from the Live Shows

Concert attendees can look forward to authentic, straight-ahead rock performances without excessive production elements. "You can expect longish sets, over an hour at least, I'd imagine. And we're pretty much what you see is what you hear," Muncey promised. "We're a pretty straight-ahead rock show, which I love."

The band will be supported by Perth's own Little Birdy at both locations, with Birds of Tokyo joining as additional support for the Denmark performance. Muncey hinted at lively backstage celebrations, guaranteeing "a bit of a party backstage" for the weekend events.

Jet's Remarkable Career Journey

Despite announcing their split in March 2012 due to personal issues, Jet reformed in 2016 and has continued to captivate audiences worldwide. The band reached a significant milestone in 2023 when they celebrated the 20th anniversary of their debut album Get Born by performing the album in its entirety during their return to the stage after a five-year hiatus.

That same year, Jet received one of Australian music's highest honors with induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame. Their recent touring schedule has been extensive, including:

  • A North American tour with Band of Skulls in May and June of last year
  • An Australian tour supporting Lenny Kravitz in November
  • Multiple performances celebrating their debut album anniversary

Looking Ahead for the Band

Following their Western Australian appearances, Jet will embark on an eight-show tour of regional cities along Australia's East Coast before heading to Europe in July for additional performances. Muncey reflected on the emotional aspect of touring, describing it as an "emotional high" that continues to inspire him after all these years in the music industry.

"It's always enjoyable, we have a good time touring, generally, and some of these more scenic, nicer gigs are good," he shared. "I enjoy sort of a variety of different shows, different stages."

Regarding their 2023 anniversary shows, Muncey admitted he hadn't realized how much he missed performing until returning to the stage. "It was good. We got to focus on that first record and play everything off it so I enjoyed it," he recalled. "There was more ballads than maybe we would have normally done on a set, and I sang a bit more than I would have usually. It was reconnecting with that feeling of you don't know you miss it."

While the band hasn't collaborated on new Jet material recently, Muncey confirmed he's working on a solo project that includes a cover of an early Jet song planned for future release.
