Wollongong Anzac Day Dawn Services and Marches Announced for 2025
The Wollongong community is preparing to honor the Anzac spirit with a series of dawn services and marches across the region on Anzac Day. The main Wollongong dawn service will commence at 5am at the MacCabe Park Cenotaph on Church Street, providing a solemn and reflective start to the day.
Wollongong March Details
Following the dawn service, the Wollongong march will begin at 10am from Crown Street Mall. Participants will proceed down Kembla Street, Burelli Street, and Church Street, passing the cenotaph before concluding at MacCabe Park. This year's march will be led by a procession of vintage cars, minibuses, electric carts, and scooters, adding a unique and nostalgic element to the event.
Regional Dawn Services and Marches
In addition to the main Wollongong events, several other suburbs will host their own commemorative services:
- Corrimal: The march starts at 5.25am from the Corrimal RSL Memorial Club on the Princes Highway, heading towards Anzac Grove on Railway Street, with a service at 6am.
- Woonona: Service at the Woonona-Bulli RSL Memorial Club on the Princes Highway at 5.30am.
- Helensburgh: Service at Charles Harper Park Memorial at 5.45am.
- Austinmer: Service at the Cenotaph at Austinmer Beach on Lawrence Hargrave Drive at 6am.
- Dapto: Service at Dapto Memorial on Station Street next to Dapto Railway Station at 6am.
- Port Kembla: Service at Port Kembla Memorial on the corner of Allan Street and Military Road at 6am.
- Thirroul: Service at the Cenotaph in William Woodward Memorial Park on Lawrence Hargrave Drive at 6am.
- Coledale: Service at Coledale RSL Club on Lawrence Hargrave Drive at 6am.
- Windang: March starts from Lake Illawarra Hotel at 7.45am, heading to the club Cenotaph for a commemorative service.
- Stanwell Tops: Service at Stanwell Tops War Memorial Park on Stonehaven Road at 10am.
These events are designed to bring the community together in remembrance, with each location offering a meaningful opportunity to pay tribute to the sacrifices of Australian and New Zealand servicemen and women.
