Others spotted enjoying the festivities were Marina Woodhouse & Suzanna Gaunt, William Gammel & Leah Robyn, and Eloise Blacklock & Anna Cooke, with Gabriel Bray also among the crowd.

A Global Film Program Until March

The launch signals the beginning of a diverse cinematic journey that will run until the end of March. The Lotterywest Films program promises to take audiences around the world with a curated selection of movies. The lineup includes:

  • Adventures and thrillers
  • Engaging documentaries
  • Heartwarming rom-coms
  • Compelling dramas

The schedule will feature both weekly screenings and special one-off events, ensuring there's something for every film lover in Perth.

An Iconic Perth Tradition Continues

This event reinforces the outdoor cinema's role as a cornerstone of Perth's cultural calendar. The film program has been an integral part of Perth Festival for over seven decades, having started in 1953. Its return each summer to the UWA grounds is a much-anticipated tradition for locals, offering a unique way to enjoy world-class cinema in a relaxed, community-focused setting.

With the season now officially open, Perth residents and visitors have until March to grab a picnic rug, enjoy some gourmet treats, and experience movies under the stars at one of the city's most iconic venues.
