Free Summer Concert Series Returns to South Perth with Conrad Sewell Headlining
The City of South Perth is inviting residents to make the most of the final summer weeks with the return of its popular free outdoor concert series, Sounds in the Park and Sounds of Bunuru. These events offer a rare opportunity to enjoy live music in a relaxed, family-friendly setting without any cost.
Sounds in the Park: An Evening with Conrad Sewell
The series kicks off with Sounds in the Park on Saturday, February 21, at Ryrie Reserve in Como. From 5pm to 8pm, attendees will experience an evening filled with live music, engaging family activities, and a variety of food trucks under the open sky. The highlight of the event is the headline performance by Australian singer-songwriter and ARIA Award winner Conrad Sewell.
Sewell, known for touring with global stars like Ed Sheeran and Maroon 5 and performing at iconic venues such as Madison Square Garden and Coachella, will bring his acclaimed talent to Como. He will be supported by local indie rock favourites Shorehaven, adding to the vibrant musical lineup.
In addition to the music, the event features roaming entertainment from Acrobatch, children's activities with Art Jam WA, Youth Makers Markets, and a wide selection of food trucks, ensuring entertainment for all ages.
Sounds of Bunuru: Featuring Becca Hatch
The second concert in the series, Sounds of Bunuru, will take place on Saturday, March 21, at James Miller Oval in Manning. This event will be headlined by Australian R&B and dance artist Becca Hatch, who will be supported by electropop duo Boox Kid and hip-hop artist Kayps, offering a diverse musical experience.
Community Focus and Accessibility
South Perth Mayor Greg Milner emphasized the community spirit behind these concerts. "Sounds in the Park and Sounds of Bunuru are all about bringing people together to enjoy great music in a relaxed, outdoor setting," Mr Milner said. "These are free, welcoming events that showcase outstanding Australian artists while creating memorable summer nights for families, friends and neighbours."
Both concerts are designed to be inclusive and accessible. They are smoke-free and fully accessible, featuring Auslan interpreters, accessible toilets, ACROD parking, and path matting. Additional amenities include bike valet services, free parking, and a complimentary shuttle bus to facilitate easy attendance.
With unreserved seating, residents are encouraged to bring picnic rugs or camping chairs to settle in for the evening, making it a comfortable and enjoyable experience for everyone.
