Myer's Fashion Revival: Iconic Brands Elevate Autumn Collections
For many years in Australia, when searching for an event outfit, the first destinations were typically Myer or David Jones. These iconic department stores, housing hundreds of fashion brands, were promoted as one-stop shops for all sartorial needs. Whether you required a new pair of jeans or a black-tie dress, there were always numerous options available.
Then, the internet and viral smaller brands emerged, leading many to believe that visiting department stores was outdated, with shopping directly from Instagram algorithms seen as superior. However, this perception is changing.
This autumn, Myer has dramatically enhanced its fashion offerings by selling brands such as The Wolf Gang, Gap, and Kinney for the first time. Below, we preview some of the latest and greatest additions from Myer.
The Wolf Gang
When it comes to outfits that make a statement, The Wolf Gang often tops the list for items that prompt questions like, 'Where did you get that from?' Founded in 2016 by Vanessa Pearce in Adelaide, this Australian lifestyle brand is known for blending bold prints, bright colours, and artisan-made details inspired by travel and 60s/70s nostalgia.
Originally starting with popular suede clutches, the brand has expanded into a global label offering ready-to-wear apparel, swimwear, and accessories. Highlights on the Myer website currently include the Irida Vest Dress in Yellow for $280 and the Verona Maxi Dress in Red for $390.
Personally, I have my eye on the Pinsa Mini Dress in Red priced at $320, featuring its bold, on-trend colour and fun sun-shaped buttons.
Kinney
Next is Kinney, a brand I personally love for elevated basics. Founded in 2017 by Jana Carlton in the Adelaide Hills, it is renowned for effortless casual luxury styles and focuses on versatile, easy-to-wear clothing designed for all body shapes.
I own a jumper purchased over five years ago from Kinney that I still regularly wear every winter when seeking something with a luxury feel in a vibrant colour. Kinney has now joined Myer, with 25 items currently available to shop.
My personal taste in Kinney always gravitates towards the knitwear. This season, I am particularly drawn to the Harper Knit Jumper in Red for $269 and the Lottie Jumper Knit in Navy for $269, both of which I envision pairing with jeans and boots as soon as the weather cools.
Gap
Gap is the heritage brand whose relaunch into Australia has already captured the attention of some of the coolest fashion insiders. Starting in 1969 with denim and records, Gap has become synonymous with individual style.
After years of absence from the local retail landscape, the American icon has officially returned through a new partnership with Myer. For Myer, this partnership represents a strategic move to reinvigorate its fashion offering and attract a younger, style-conscious audience.
Executive Chair Olivia Wirth has positioned Gap's arrival as a key moment in reshaping the retailer's brand mix, aligning with a broader push to modernise its in-store and online experience. Currently, there are close to 150 items on the Myer Gap homepage.
Highlights include the Sleeveless Corset Top in Denim for $109.95 and the Barrel Leg Jeans for $159.95.
By Johnny
Last but certainly not least, By Johnny has joined Myer, serving as the perfect destination for your next event outfit. With the trend for polka dots remaining strong, the highlight from the autumn lineup is the Paloma Polka Ankle Dress in Brown for $320 and the mini dress in the same print for $290.
