Bron Lewis Heads to Perth Comedy Festival with Sold-Out Show Chaos
Bron Lewis is set to bring her acclaimed show Chaos to the Perth Comedy Festival in 2026, marking a significant milestone in her burgeoning comedy career. The 39-year-old comedian, who holds the record for the fastest career trajectory at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, has seen her entire run sell out before it even began, a testament to her rising popularity.
From Raw Comedy to Headlining Success
Lewis's journey in comedy began in 2022 when she co-won the National Raw Comedy competition. Just four years later, she has progressed from competing in the finals at Melbourne Town Hall to headlining her own show at the same 1400-seat venue. Reflecting on this rapid ascent, Lewis expressed amazement at her career's growth, noting a dramatic increase in ticket sales compared to previous years.
"This year has been such an enormous jump for me with my career," Lewis said from her Melbourne home. "I keep pinching myself and being like, 'This is wild. How has this all happened in four short years?' It has been incredible."
Drawing from Life Experiences
Lewis's comedy is deeply rooted in her personal experiences, including her decade as a high school English teacher and her role as a mother of three. She credits these backgrounds with giving her the resilience needed in comedy, such as handling hecklers and apathetic audiences. Her previous show, Who's Talking?, focused on her teaching years, while Chaos delves into the hectic dynamics of family life.
In Chaos, Lewis explores the challenges of living with her partner Lukasz, who works from home, their three children at different life stages, a new dog, and her mother, who has moved in. She describes her household as "the most chaotic place I've ever been," using humor to address the pressures and judgments faced by women in parenting roles.
Addressing Mental Health Through Comedy and Writing
Beyond stand-up, Lewis has ventured into authorship with her book I'm Not Mad (Anymore), released in February. The book candidly details her struggles with undiagnosed postnatal anxiety and depression, aiming to provide a relatable and hopeful narrative for others. Lewis shared that writing the book was a raw and emotional process, but the positive response has made it a significant achievement in her life.
"I just wrote the book that I wanted to read when I was struggling," she explained. "Parts of it are super humiliating, but the response has made it the most important thing, apart from my children, that I've created."
