The alarming messages were reportedly posted in a WhatsApp group chat on Sunday afternoon, involving a group of Year 7 students at SCEGGS in Darlinghurst.

Incident Details

According to the school, one student allegedly asked for instructions on how to construct the explosive device. 7NEWS understands that the girl allegedly told the group she had already acquired some ingredients to make the pipe bomb. The messages were reported to the school, prompting staff to immediately contact police due to the “extremely serious” nature of the content.

Police Response

Detectives attended the prestigious school and searched a locker as part of their investigation. Officers also spoke with a child on campus, while additional inquiries were carried out off campus. Police are investigating an alleged pipe bomb threat at the exclusive Sydney school.
