Parmelia Father Dies After E-Bike Crash with School Bus

Heartfelt tributes are pouring in for a father who tragically lost his life after his electric bicycle collided with a school bus in Perth’s southern suburbs. Simon Morris, a 37-year-old father from Parmelia, was involved in the devastating incident on Thursday afternoon.

Fatal Collision at Roundabout

The accident occurred around 3:30pm at the roundabout where Tunnicliffe Street meets Parmelia Avenue in Parmelia. Mr. Morris was riding his e-bike when he crashed into a bus that was carrying primary school children at the time.

Emergency services, including paramedics, arrived promptly at the scene. They rushed the injured man to Rockingham Hospital, but despite their efforts, he succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the crash later that day.

Community Mourns ‘Simmo’

Known affectionately as Simmo to his loved ones, Mr. Morris was remembered as a devoted father and a loyal friend. On Friday, those close to him gathered at the crash site to lay flowers and pay their respects.

“He was the most amazing friend, he had a heart of gold, he was my best friend,” his friend Bec Forrest told 10NEWS, fighting back tears.

Ms. Forrest also expressed gratitude to the witnesses and first responders who provided immediate assistance. “We just want to thank everyone because at the end of the day, no matter the outcome, there was still people with him. He didn’t die alone,” she said.

Bus Driver and Children Unharmed

The bus involved in the fatal collision had primary school students on board. Fortunately, the 59-year-old bus driver and all the children escaped without physical injury.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. No further details have been released at this stage.
