Perth pizza chain Il Locale is serving up a slice of gratitude to healthcare workers this World Nurses' Day, delivering hundreds of free pizzas to nurses at three local hospitals.
Feeding the Frontline Initiative
The popular franchise, which operates six locations across Western Australia, launched its Feeding the Frontline campaign on Tuesday. The team is delivering fresh pizzas during lunch and dinner rushes to Royal Perth Hospital, Fiona Stanley Hospital, and Kalamunda Hospital.
Royal Perth Hospital will receive two deliveries—one for day shift staff and another for night shift workers. Night shift employees at Fiona Stanley and Kalamunda hospitals will also enjoy piping hot pizzas from the chain.
Founder's Inspiration
Founder Mat Bourget said the initiative was a heartfelt thank-you to the workers who keep WA’s hospitals running under immense pressure. “We’ve always said Il Locale is more than pizza, it’s about people. This just felt like the right way to say thank you to the ones who are always there when it matters most,” he told PerthNow.
“A lot of our customers, friends and family are in these roles. You hear the stories, you see the hours, the pressure — it’s not something most people fully understand unless they’re in it. When things get tough, they’re the ones holding it together. That deserves respect. If we can bring a bit of energy into their day, even for a moment, that’s a win.”
Plans for the Future
The hospitality venue hinted that Tuesday’s donation run is just the beginning. “If we can keep doing this, grow it and bring more people into it — that’s the goal,” Mr Bourget said. “The bigger we get, the more we can give back.”
This is not the first time Il Locale has engaged in philanthropy. Recently, the chain offered one lucky diner a free month of rent or mortgage payments.
