Former West Coast Eagles player David Wirrpanda will fight allegations of threatening behaviour and breaching a family violence restraining order.
Mr Wirrpanda did not appear in person at Perth Magistrates Court on Monday, but his lawyer entered pleas of not guilty on his behalf.
The 46-year-old has been charged with one count each of breaching a family violence restraining order, breaching protective bail conditions, and making an aggravated threat to unlawfully do an act.
Court records indicate the aggravated threat charge dates back to November 2021, while the other two charges allegedly occurred last month.
Mr Wirrpanda’s bail was renewed ahead of his next court appearance, scheduled for September 21.
Football Career and Community Work
Drafted at age 16, the former Eagle played 227 games for West Coast before retiring in 2009 at age 30.
He was a member of the 2006 premiership team, which reunited over the weekend to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the win.
Following his football career, Mr Wirrpanda founded the Wirrpanda Foundation, now known as the Waalitj Foundation, to improve opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in education, business, employment, and other areas.
