Bentley crash victim fundraiser exceeds $67,000 in 24 hours

A young woman tragically killed when struck by a car in Bentley has been remembered as a kind and vibrant friend. Komalpreet Kaur, 19, died after being trapped under a Hyundai i30 hatchback in the Bentley Plaza carpark on Saturday night around 11:30pm.

She was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital with critical injuries but sadly could not be saved. A GoFundMe campaign launched for the Indian expat has raised more than $67,000 in under 24 hours, far exceeding its initial goal.

Harpinder Singh Kaler, who organised the fundraiser to support Ms Kaur's family, said the funds will allow her body to be repatriated to India. "Komalpreet was full of life, kindness, and dreams for the future," he said.

"We are overwhelmed with gratitude to share that we have exceeded our fundraising goal for Komalpreet Kaur. Thank you to everyone who donated, shared, and supported us during this incredibly difficult time. Your kindness and generosity have made it possible to send Komalpreet back to India so she can be laid to rest with her family."

Mr Singh Kaler added, "May Komalpreet Kaur rest in eternal peace." The 19-year-old male driver of the hatchback has been assisting police with inquiries. Witnesses had to lift the car off Ms Kaur in a desperate attempt to save her.
