Armed kidnapping caught on CCTV in Sydney

Three kidnappers can be seen running toward a ute driver while yelling, 'don't move,' in newly released footage of a shocking abduction in southwest Sydney on Tuesday night.

What the CCTV shows

CCTV cameras captured the armed kidnapping unfolding outside a home on Coraki Road in Bass Hill at approximately 10:30 PM. The unknown offenders, traveling in a sedan, first come to a halt on the road in view of the camera. Moments later, a ute crosses their path and pulls to a stop. The offenders then run toward it, a gunshot rings out, and the ute driver is dragged back to the sedan, which speeds away.

Police investigation

The matter was referred to State Crime Command's Robbery and Serious Crime Squad, and an investigation was immediately launched to safely recover the victim, according to NSW Police. Police confirmed that the 43-year-old man was released by his captors at about 10:45 AM on Thursday. He has been taken to hospital for treatment.
