Police have arrested a 45-year-old man following a series of alleged assaults across Adelaide on 19 May. Officers responded to reports of disturbances around Green Fields in the city's northern suburbs shortly after 3:15pm.
Incident at Port Wakefield Road business
According to police, the suspect allegedly started an altercation in the car park of a business on Port Wakefield Road. He is accused of spitting on another man before both individuals left the area.
Mosque incident
The same man then entered a mosque on Ryans Road, where he allegedly became verbally abusive toward a woman inside. Police said the suspect was aggressive and made offensive remarks.
Return to business
The suspect later returned to the Port Wakefield Road business, where he allegedly made verbal threats toward a 68-year-old man. Police claim he spat in the older man's face and attempted to assault him.
Arrest and charges
When officers arrived, they found the 45-year-old Brahma Lodge man with a small chest wound believed to have been sustained during the earlier altercation. The older victim suffered minor injuries. The suspect was taken to hospital for treatment and assessment before being arrested. He has been charged with affray, disorderly behaviour, threats to cause harm, and assault with biological matter.
Police said they wish to reassure the community that this was not a targeted incident. Investigators urge anyone who interacted with the man but has not yet spoken to police to come forward.
