At least 10 people are in hospital and more victims are expected to be announced after a shooting at a lake party in the South Central United States.
Shooting at Arcadia Lake
Authorities received several reports of a shooting at Arcadia Lake, in Edmond near Oklahoma City, about 9pm on Sunday. Ten wounded partygoers were transported to metro hospitals in various conditions.
Edmond Police Department spokesperson Emily Ward said, however, that more victim numbers are expected as some individuals took their own personal vehicles to the hospital. Ward confirmed that police have not taken anyone into custody.
There is no reason to believe there is a threat to the public, she added.
Large Gathering of Young Adults
Authorities said a large group of young adults had gathered at the lake before the shooting took place. This is obviously a very terrifying situation, Ward said, and we understand the concern from the public and those involved. We are working extremely hard to find these suspects and help these victims.
Authorities are working in tough conditions, with the time just past 1am in Oklahoma, and will remain at the scene well into Monday morning. We are taking witness statements and are kind of all over the metro speaking with victims and witnesses, Ward said. That is what we will be doing in these next multiple hours.
