Jack Savoretti, the singer-songwriter known for his soulful voice, and his wife Jemma Powell, an accomplished artist, have opened up about their unique creative life together. In a rare joint interview, the couple discussed how they balance their artistic pursuits with raising a family, and how their home environment fuels their work.
A Creative Partnership
Savoretti and Powell met over a decade ago and quickly discovered a shared passion for the arts. While Savoretti pours his emotions into music, Powell expresses herself through painting and sculpture. They describe their relationship as a constant source of inspiration, often bouncing ideas off each other late into the night.
“We have a very symbiotic creative process,” says Savoretti. “Jemma’s visual art often influences my lyrics, and I think my music sometimes finds its way into her work.” Powell agrees, noting that their home is filled with sketches and half-finished songs.
Home as a Sanctuary
The couple’s home, nestled in the English countryside, serves as both a sanctuary and a studio. They have converted parts of the house into dedicated creative spaces: a soundproofed music room for Savoretti and a light-filled studio for Powell. “It’s important to have a space where you can be messy and experimental,” Powell explains.
Their children are also part of this creative ecosystem. The couple encourages them to explore art and music freely, often resulting in impromptu family jam sessions or collaborative paintings. “We want them to see that creativity is not just a job, but a way of life,” Savoretti adds.
Balancing Act
Balancing demanding careers with family life is not always easy. Both artists have learned to carve out time for their work while being present for their children. They rely on a strict schedule and mutual support. “There are days when I have a deadline and Jack needs to take the kids to school,” says Powell. “We just make it work.”
Savoretti credits their strong partnership with helping him navigate the pressures of the music industry. “Having someone who understands the creative highs and lows is invaluable,” he says.
Looking Ahead
Both are working on new projects. Savoretti is finishing his next album, which he describes as “more personal than ever,” while Powell is preparing for a solo exhibition later this year. They hint that a collaborative project might be on the horizon, though they remain tight-lipped about details.
For now, the couple is focused on enjoying the present. “We have a beautiful life,” Savoretti reflects. “It’s chaotic and messy, but it’s ours.”
