Hugh Jackman has reportedly entered into prenuptial agreement negotiations with partner Sutton Foster, as rumors of their engagement earlier this year continue to circulate. The couple, who went public with their relationship at the start of 2025, are said to have become engaged during a holiday to Costa Rica in early 2026, according to New Idea magazine.
Engagement and Prenup Details
“It wasn’t a shock to Sutton as it’s something they’ve been talking about,” a source told New Idea. “But Hugh did get down on one knee, and she is in possession of a diamond solitaire she’ll show off when they’re ready.” Sources indicate that Jackman and Foster have been working on a $200 million prenuptial agreement since the engagement, despite Jackman’s initial reluctance. Because he never had a prenup with ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness, Jackman initially rejected the idea before Foster and his financial team insisted.
Protecting the Children
The prenup is rumored to primarily protect Jackman’s two adult children, Oscar and Ava, whom he shares with Furness, as well as Foster’s nine-year-old daughter, whom she shares with ex-husband Ted Griffin. “Hugh was against a prenup initially, but his business team and his ex kicked off about it, with Sutton also wanting to protect her future should things go sideways,” a source said. “This is a $200m prenup, including a $50m ‘no hard feelings’ exit package, and it’s mostly designed around protecting all three kids. It’s not comfortable discussions, but neither of them is willing to walk away — and Hugh genuinely believes the Sutton trolls will calm down once they’re married.”
Navigating Family Dynamics
This is “new territory” for Jackman, who is reportedly still in talks with his children to get them “on board” with his marriage to Foster after his high-profile divorce from their mother, which drew significant public attention. “Even though Hugh is excited to start this next chapter with Sutton, he has to be sensitive to his kids,” a source explained. “They’re incredibly protective of their mother . . . he wants to be respectful of that.”
