A 51-year-old Melbourne man has been charged by police following a disturbing alleged campaign where arrows were fired into a specialist school for vulnerable students over a four-month period.
Arrows and Weapons Seized in Police Raid
Nikolaos Frengos was arrested during a police raid at his Glenroy home on Thursday. Officers executing the search warrant discovered a concerning arsenal inside the property, including bows, arrows, ball bearings, and a slingshot.
The arrest comes after an investigation into projectiles being fired into the Glenroy Specialist School, which caters specifically to students with physical disabilities and complex health needs. The school is located directly opposite Frengos' house on Trevannion Street.
A School Community Left 'Mortified'
When confronted by 7NEWS, Frengos denied the allegations, stating he did not fire arrows at the school or attempt to hurt children. When questioned about his possession of bows and arrows, he replied, "That's my business."
Evidence of the alleged attacks is visible on the school grounds, with holes pierced into the metal fencing and various parts of the school building.
Leah West, a former employee of the school for seven years, expressed the community's shock. "It's insanity. Who even has that in their home?" West said, describing the size of the bow recovered by police. "When the police walked out with it, it's as tall as I am. Like, it is huge."
She voiced serious concerns about the safety risks to students and staff, particularly during emergency procedures like fire drills when people are required to gather in open areas. "There's a lot of holes. How long was he standing there? How long could that have gone on before someone potentially could have got hit?" she questioned.
Charges Laid and Court Date Set
Victoria Police have charged Frengos with reckless conduct endangering serious injury, discharging a missile, and wilful damage. They allege he repeatedly shot "sporadic volleys" into the school since August.
Authorities confirmed that no one was injured during the incidents and that the actions were not targeted at a specific individual.
A neighbour described Frengos as friendly and said she had never seen him with weapons, noting "he just sits alone and does his own thing." When approached for comment, Frengos' mother deflected questions to police.
Frengos has been bailed and is scheduled to appear at the Broadmeadows Magistrates' Court on April 15, 2026.
The Education Department acknowledged the situation, stating it appreciated "the effective work by Victoria Police who acted swiftly and made an arrest."
