Speeding Driver Allegedly Crossed to Wrong Side of Road in Fatal Crash
Emergency services were called to the Pacific Highway, near Wadalba on the Central Coast, just after 2am on December 14, following reports of a collision between a sedan and a hatchback. The incident resulted in the tragic deaths of two women at the scene.

Police allege that a 49-year-old man was driving a Mercedes sedan at a speed exceeding 45 kilometres per hour over the limit when he crossed to the wrong side of the road. This action caused a head-on crash with a Kia hatchback, which was carrying a 45-year-old woman driving and a 38-year-old woman in the passenger seat. Both women, who were reportedly travelling home from a Lady Gaga concert in Sydney, died instantly from the impact.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the male driver of the sedan for arm and leg injuries. He was transported to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle in a serious condition. Tuggerah Lakes police established a crime scene, and specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit were called in to assist with the investigation. Both vehicles were seized for forensic examination to determine the exact circumstances of the crash.
Charges and Legal Proceedings
Following extensive investigations, police charged the 49-year-old man on Friday, March 6, with multiple offences. The charges include dangerous driving occasioning death, two counts of aggravated dangerous driving occasioning death by speeding at more than 45 kilometres per hour over the limit, negligent driving offences, and failing to keep left of a dividing line.
The man has been issued a notice to appear at Wyong Local Court in April, and his driver's licence has been suspended pending the outcome of the legal proceedings. This case highlights the severe consequences of speeding and reckless driving on public roads.
