Specialist Police Unit Makes Arrest in Central Coast Operation

A 32-year-old man is behind bars after specialist police from the Hunter Domestic Violence High-Risk Offender Team located and arrested him on Tuesday, November 11. The operation took place at a unit in Tuggerawong on the Central Coast, where the man was wanted on outstanding warrants.

The arrest was a coordinated effort involving the Hunter high-risk team, officers from Operation Utah, and local police from Tuggerawong Lakes. After searching the property, police took the man into custody without incident.

Multiple Domestic Violence Charges Laid

Following his arrest, the man was transported to Wyong Police Station where the warrants were executed. Police allege the man had engaged in a pattern of abusive behaviour towards a woman known to him.

The 32-year-old faces seven domestic violence-related charges, including three counts of stalking or intimidating, two counts of common assault, and two counts of contravening an apprehended domestic violence order. He was additionally charged with entering enclosed lands without lawful excuse.

Police refused bail, and the man appeared in court later on Tuesday where he was formally refused bail and ordered to remain in custody. His matter has been scheduled for mention at Cessnock Local Court later this month.

State-Wide Crackdown on Domestic Violence Offenders

This arrest coincides with the launch of Operation Amarok, a state-wide policing strategy targeting dangerous domestic violence offenders. The intelligence-led campaign involves each policing region's Domestic Violence High-Risk Offender Team working alongside specialist and local officers.

Operation Amarok focuses on arresting individuals with outstanding warrants for domestic and family violence matters, with the primary goal of protecting victims and the broader community from harm.

The Hunter high-risk team continues to work proactively to identify and apprehend offenders who pose a significant threat to community safety, particularly in domestic violence situations.
