True North Adventure Cruises Unveils $4 Million Fleet Refit and New Itineraries
As the Kimberley cruising season commences, True North Adventure Cruises has announced a significant $4 million refit for its vessels, True North and True North II. This major investment comes as the company approaches its 40th anniversary, with operations spanning Australia, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea.
Refit Details and Solo Travel Enhancements
The refit for True North includes the installation of new engines and various interior upgrades. Notably, several cabins now feature an additional Pullman bunk, providing new options for solo travellers. These shared rooms can be configured in a bunk-bed style or used as single accommodations, offering flexibility and comfort.
True North II has received improvements to guest areas and new adventure boats designed to access shorelines, river systems, and reefs. Additionally, both vessels have undergone comprehensive crew training and team development programs to enhance service quality.
New Itineraries for the 2026 Season
The 2026 season introduces exciting new itineraries, including Kimberley Untold, which explores remote rivers, waterfalls, and sandstone gorges. A True North spokesperson highlighted that this itinerary opens up entirely new areas after nearly four decades of Kimberley exploration, featuring fishing, wildlife encounters, and guided bushwalking.
Another new offering, Navigate New Britain, ventures into Papua New Guinea, showcasing volcanic landscapes, rainforest coastlines, and vibrant reef systems. This expedition blends snorkelling with visits to remote island communities. True North will also return to the Great Barrier Reef, expanding its adventure cruise portfolio.
Company Vision and Guest Experience
True North Adventure Cruises director Chad Avenell emphasized the company's commitment to pushing boundaries. "We've put a lot into the fleet this year," he said. "It's about how far we can go, how flexible we can be, and what that opens up for guests once we're out there. A big part of that is making sure everything's dialled in, the vessels and the crew, so we're set up properly from day one. At the end of the day, it's about our guests, their safety, and making sure they leave having had a once-in-a-lifetime experience."
This refit and itinerary expansion underscore True North's dedication to providing unparalleled adventure cruising experiences, particularly catering to the growing demand for solo travel options in remote destinations.
