TransPerth Expands Services for Ed Sheeran's Loop Tour in Perth
TransPerth is rolling out additional public transport options to help thousands of Ed Sheeran fans navigate Perth this weekend, as the British superstar prepares for two sold-out concerts at Optus Stadium. The move aims to ease traffic congestion and provide a smoother experience for concertgoers.
Free Transport and Enhanced Schedules for Ticket Holders
Lucky attendees have been granted complimentary public transport with their ticket purchase, valid for three hours before and after each performance. Trains on the Armadale and Thornlie-Cockburn lines will stop at Perth Stadium Station throughout the day, while direct services on the Yanchep and Mandurah lines will operate specifically around show times. Notably, trains on the Fremantle line will only run post-concert.
In addition to rail services, the Suburban Event Bus Network will be active from 4pm to 7pm on both Saturday and Sunday, continuing for 45 minutes after the events conclude. The Red CAT service will also ferry fans from West Perth through the CBD to Matagarup Bridge, enhancing accessibility to the venue.
Addressing Congestion and Encouraging Patience
With Frontier Touring anticipating crowds exceeding 55,000 per show, Main Roads WA has issued warnings about increased traffic delays in the stadium precinct. A spokesperson advised motorists to allow extra travel time, particularly during peak afternoon hours, and to remain vigilant for heavy pedestrian activity and frequent vehicle stops.
A TransPerth spokesperson emphasised that services are expected to be exceptionally busy. "We encourage passengers to plan their journey, allow extra time, and please be patient," she stated. "Extra trains will be running to get people to and from the venue as quickly as possible." Replacement buses will operate between Midland and Bassendean stations due to a partial line shutdown, with regular train services resuming from Bassendean onwards.
Support Acts and National Tour Details
Ed Sheeran's performances will feature support from Australian artists Vance Joy and Mia Wray, along with Irish all-female group BIIRD. Following the Perth shows, the Loop Tour will continue with three concerts each in Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne, wrapping up with a final performance in Adelaide on March 5.
