Gold Coast Parks Unveil New Thrills for Summer Crowds

The famous theme parks of the Gold Coast are preparing for an enormous summer surge, unveiling a spectacular line-up of new rides and shows to entertain the holiday crowds.

Thrilling Upgrades and Adrenaline-Pumping Additions

This Christmas holidays mark the peak season for the region's world-renowned attractions, which have spent the entire year gearing up for the massive influx of visitors. For families and thrill-seekers alike, there is something brand new to discover.

At Warner Bros. Movie World, a beloved classic makes its grand return. The Scooby-Doo Spooky Coaster, a firm family favourite, is back in action after being closed since 2023. The popular ride received an extensive refurbishment, giving it a new lease on life after two decades of service.

Meanwhile, Dreamworld is raising the stakes for adrenaline junkies with the debut of its towering new attraction, the King Claw. This impressive ride stands at a staggering 27 metres tall, making it a full 50 per cent higher than the attraction it replaces. Staff who were among the first to test it described an intense experience.

"You feel the adrenaline, like it’s just ... it’s the most insane feeling," one staff member shared. "You feel your stomach kind of dropping and the rush of the air, it’s really fun."

Cooling Off with Aquatic Adventures and Marine Marvels

For those looking to escape the summer heat, Wet’n’Wild offers a refreshing alternative with not one, but four new water slides for the holiday period. It's the perfect way to combine excitement with a cool-down.

SeaWorld is also joining the festive action by presenting a completely new dolphin show, designed specifically to dazzle Christmas visitors with aquatic acrobatics and educational entertainment.

Preparing for a Blockbuster Summer Season

Park operators are buzzing with confidence about the upcoming season. A spokesperson for the parks expressed great optimism, stating, "We’re gearing up for a really great summer here at Dreamworld. We have so much to do. We’re expecting a bumper summer period. We’ve got obviously so many attractions opening and we’re really excited to have it busy in all of our parks."

To accommodate the expected crowds, several theme parks are planning to implement extended opening hours throughout the Christmas holiday period. Visitors are strongly advised to check individual park websites for the most up-to-date information on attraction availability and specific opening times to ensure a seamless and enjoyable visit.
