Crown Perth Unveils Urban Food District with Global Flavours for Valentine's and State of Origin
Crown Perth has launched its first major development in more than a decade, the Urban Food District, aiming to become a premier dining destination in Western Australia. The precinct opens just ahead of the State of Origin clash between WA and Victoria at Optus Stadium and Valentine's Day celebrations, offering a diverse culinary experience for footy fans and couples alike.
International and Local Culinary Additions
The Urban Food District introduces several new dining options, including three American chains making their Australian debut. Burgers by ES, also known as Eggslut, brings its cult eggburgers to Perth, while Side Piece Pizza offers New York-style slices, and Tekka Bar serves premium Las Vegas sushi and sake.
Local flavours are well-represented with Saigon Story, a Vietnamese banh mi concept by former MasterChef contestant Jenny Lam. In the coming weeks, the district will welcome Taco Daddy with its first permanent location, alongside Malaysian eatery Jom Kopitiam and bubble tea chain Chatime.
Designed for Major Events and Late-Night Revellers
Crown Perth CEO Brian Pereira emphasised the district's role as a hub for Perth's social scene. "Offering a mix of street food favourites and bold flavours designed for every taste, the Urban Food District is set to become one of Perth's hottest destinations," he said. "With plenty of major Perth events around the corner, it's going to be the perfect spot for late-night bites, catching up with friends and soaking in the atmosphere."
The pizza and burger bars will remain open until 2am on Friday and Saturday nights, catering to late-night crowds. The venue is located opposite Crown Theatre and accessible via the casino, making it convenient for event-goers.
American-Inspired Atmosphere and Speakeasy Bar
New Fremantle ruckman Mason Cox, an American-turned-Aussie, was invited to sample the American offerings. "There's a bit of California Love, as Tupac would say. And then we've got New York style pizza too, and some amazing influences from the United States, so it's great to be able to have a bit of home away from home," Cox told The West Australian.
He also highlighted the district's appeal for Valentine's Day dates before the footy clash. "This is a great option before or after, whether it's a show, a football game, whatever it may be, just to be able to get dinner in and not have to stress about that part of the evening," Cox added.
The district features several new bars, including a Crown-operated Beer Garden and a secondary bar facing the casino. The most intriguing addition is 1520, an American-themed speakeasy that requires a code for access. The bar's name pays tribute to 1520 Sedgwick Avenue in the Bronx, the birthplace of hip hop culture.
Quality Focus and Future Openings
Darren Li, Operations and Development Manager for Burgers by ES, expressed excitement about bringing quality to Perth's burger scene. "We want everyone to enjoy quality burgers, quality ingredients in Australia, with a little twist, because we also incorporated two new sandwiches, two new burgers," Mr Li said. "Every burger that we have will be prepared fresh for each individual, and what I tell them is, imagine the best burger they've had, but better."
Following the recent opening of luxe wine bar Gladstones, the Urban Food District continues Crown Perth's expansion of its dining and entertainment offerings. Several other openings are planned in the coming weeks, further enhancing the precinct's appeal.
Crown Perth's Urban Food District officially opens to the public on Friday, February 13, 2026, positioning itself as a key destination for food lovers and event attendees in Perth.
