Monaro Screens, a family-owned business in Fyshwick, has been named a finalist in the Service and Trade category for the 2025 Canberra Region Local Business Awards. The company won the same category in 2024 and is aiming for back-to-back wins. General manager Ben Byatt is also a finalist for Business Person of the Year.
Byatt expressed pride in the team's recognition, stating that the nomination reflects their dedication, craftsmanship, and focus on people over profits. Monaro Screens specializes in premium home improvement products, including Crimsafe security screens, shower screens, sliding robe doors, mirrors, splashbacks, and retractable flyscreens.
The business designs, sells, and manufactures products locally from its two factories and showroom at 75 Wollongong Street, Fyshwick. Byatt emphasized that nearly all products are built in Canberra by their own team, ensuring quality, faster turnaround, and accountability.
Monaro Screens has supported local charities, sports clubs, and mental health initiatives for over 33 years. Byatt noted that the nomination is for the team, customers, and community who have been part of their story.
