Monaro Screens Aims for Back-to-Back Canberra Business Awards Win
Monaro Screens Finalist for Canberra Business Awards 2025

A Fyshwick-based family business is in the running to secure a prestigious local award for the second year running, cementing its reputation for quality and community spirit.

Monaro Screens has been named a finalist in the Service and Trade category at the 2025 Canberra Region Local Business Awards. This follows their victory in the same category in 2024, putting them in a strong position to achieve a rare back-to-back win.

Local Craftsmanship and Leadership Recognised

Adding to the business's accolades, the company's general manager, Ben Byatt, has also been shortlisted as a finalist for the Business Person of the Year award.

"We were extremely proud to win the Service and Trade category last year," Ben said. "This is a genuine honour and an extremely proud moment for our entire team to be named a finalist again in 2025."

He emphasised that the nomination is a direct reflection of the team's daily commitment. "It's recognition of the dedication, craftsmanship and passion that every member of our team puts in day in and day out."

More Than Just a Seller: A Local Manufacturer

Operating from its base at 75 Wollongong Street in Fyshwick, Monaro Screens is far more than a retail outlet. The business specialises in a range of premium home improvement products, including Crimsafe security screens, shower screens, sliding robe doors, and retractable flyscreens.

Critically, the company designs, sells, and manufactures the vast majority of its products on-site across its two factories and showroom.

"Many people don't realise that nearly all our products are built right here in Canberra by our own team," Ben explained. "We don't just sell, we design, fabricate, and install every product ourselves."

This end-to-end local control allows the business to guarantee quality, offer faster turnaround times, and maintain true accountability. Customers interact directly with the team that builds their products, ensuring a personal touch absent from franchise models.

A Legacy Built on Community and Care

For over 33 years, Monaro Screens has built its legacy on providing Canberra homeowners with products that enhance aesthetics while meeting high safety standards. Ben attributes their award recognition to a company-wide ethos of outstanding customer service and genuine care for clients and staff alike.

"We take pride in going the extra mile where possible, ensuring every product is custom-made, every installation is done right, and every client feels valued," he said.

He also paid tribute to his team, describing the business as a family. "The loyalty of our long-serving team members also plays a huge part in what makes Monaro stand out."

This community focus extends beyond the workshop doors. For three decades, the business has actively supported local charities, sports clubs, and mental health initiatives.

"This nomination isn't just for us, it's for our team, our customers, and our community who've been part of our story for over 33 years," Ben concluded, highlighting the symbiotic relationship between the business and the capital region it calls home.
