Geelong police are appealing for public assistance to identify two suspects following a brazen car theft incident on Monday afternoon. The alleged offenders are believed to have stopped a vehicle worth approximately $40,000 and made off with it in broad daylight.

Incident Details

The theft occurred around 2:30 pm on Monday, according to police reports. The victim, a 45-year-old local resident, was driving along the Princes Highway when the suspects allegedly forced him to stop. The pair then allegedly threatened the driver before stealing the vehicle, a white 2020 Toyota Hilux.

Police have described the incident as a brazen and targeted attack, given the busy nature of the area at the time. No physical injuries were reported, but the victim was left shaken by the ordeal.

Suspect Descriptions

Authorities have released descriptions of the two suspects. The first is described as a Caucasian male, approximately 25 to 30 years old, with a thin build and short brown hair. He was last seen wearing a dark hooded jumper and jeans. The second suspect is also believed to be a Caucasian male, similar in age, with a stocky build and short blond hair. He was wearing a blue t-shirt and shorts at the time of the incident.

Police Investigation

Detectives from the Geelong Crime Investigation Unit are leading the investigation. They have urged anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage from the area to come forward. The stolen vehicle has not yet been recovered, and police are treating the matter with high priority.
