Construction has officially commenced on a significant nine-storey mixed-use development on Fitzgerald Street in North Perth, directly opposite the local Coles supermarket. This project, known as the Celsius development, represents one of the largest constructions to launch in the area in recent years.
Project Details and Scope
The development, approved for the addresses 367–373 Fitzgerald Street and 103 Alma Road, will feature 108 apartments situated from the second to the ninth floors. The ground and second levels will be dedicated to a vibrant mix of restaurants, cafés, shops, and office spaces.
The site occupies an entire city block, bordered by Alma Road, Fitzgerald Street, Raglan Road, and a right-of-way to the west. Construction work hours have been set from 7am to 7pm, Monday to Saturday.
Traffic and Community Impact
A City of Vincent-approved traffic management plan is now active for the duration of the build. This has resulted in several road and footpath obstructions that residents and commuters should be aware of.
Sections of Alma Road, Raglan Road, Fitzgerald Street, and ROW 49 are affected, along with the footpaths surrounding the site. Construction trucks will occasionally load and unload in the western lane of Fitzgerald Street and the northern part of Raglan Road.
The early construction phases will involve piling and bulk earthworks, which are expected to generate some vibration. The City has stated this should remain within Australian Standards and is not anticipated to cause damage to nearby properties.
Parking and Security Measures
Construction workers have been directed to park at the Wasley Street and View Street carparks, though they may also use surrounding streets while adhering to all parking restrictions. This is expected to place additional pressure on local parking availability.
For security, the site will be equipped with fencing, CCTV, and security guards as needed. Future vehicle access for the building's tenants will be provided from Raglan Road and the western laneway.
The City encourages residents with concerns about the development to liaise directly with the builder or developer.
