Corazon Mining has announced the discovery of two high-priority gold targets at its Feather Cap project in Western Australia's Eastern Gascoyne region, following a detailed review of historical exploration data. The findings include a 3.5-kilometre-long anomaly and an additional drill-ready prospect, immediately expanding the company's exploration pipeline ahead of planned field programs.
Trudgeon Hill Prospect: A Coherent Gold Anomaly
At the Trudgeon Hill prospect, Corazon has identified a lag anomaly that forms a coherent stretch of anomalous gold concentrated in surface gravels. Notably, this target has never been drilled, presenting a fresh opportunity for exploration. Historical soil sampling by Western Mining in 1991 revealed multiple peaks exceeding 100 parts per billion (ppb) of gold across the entire strike length, with one standout sample in the south reaching a remarkable 760 ppb of gold. This discovery provides Corazon with a compelling walk-up target, ripe for drilling in upcoming campaigns.
Murphy's Creek Prospect: Geological Pedigree and Depth Potential
The Murphy's Creek prospect, another key target within Feather Cap, aligns directly along strike from Westgold's nearby Durack gold deposit, which hosts 112,000 ounces of gold, lending it significant geological credibility. A 1998 aircore drilling campaign by Troy Resources delivered a notable hit of 10 metres grading 0.6 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 20 metres, including a 5-metre section grading 1.0 g/t gold from 25 metres. Additional surface work identified outcropping vein material grading 1.13 g/t gold, with samples up to 39 ppb. Importantly, historical drilling did not test below 40 metres, and Corazon notes that mineralisation appears open at depth and along strike, suggesting potential for more significant discoveries.
Strategic Location and Regional Context
The Feather Cap project is strategically situated in the Bryah-Padbury Basin within the Capricorn Orogen of Western Australia, a region with a long history of gold endowment. Nearby mining centres at Fortnum, Peak Hill, Horseshoe, and Labouchere have collectively produced two million ounces of gold. Feather Cap's proximity to Westgold's Fortnum processing plant, which is flagged for an upgrade to 1.5 million tonnes per annum, may offer Corazon toll treatment options, enhancing project economics.
Broader Portfolio and Future Plans
Corazon's Western Australian portfolio also includes the Two Pools gold project in the Plutonic-Marymia Greenstone Belt, which features high-grade historical intercepts such as 12 metres grading 8.9 g/t and 8 metres grading 7.8 g/t gold. The company is currently conducting a deep diamond drilling campaign at Two Pools, with assay results expected in the coming weeks. Additionally, Corazon holds the wholly owned Lynn Lake nickel-copper-cobalt sulphide project in Canada, with a JORC resource of 116,000 tonnes of nickel, 54,300 tonnes of copper, and 5,300 tonnes of cobalt, providing exposure to critical minerals.

With compelling evidence from desktop studies, Corazon plans to initiate site reconnaissance at Trudgeon Well and Murphy's Creek, focusing on assessing ground conditions and refining drill targeting. Surface mapping and follow-up sampling at Trudgeon Well will prioritise specific areas within the anomaly, with data integrated into a maiden drilling program. Drill planning for Murphy's Creek is also advancing to test depth and strike potential. Corazon's systematic approach, dubbed a "clever gold strategy," positions the company to deliver a steady stream of news as it unlocks value in the Bryah Basin, attracting attention from investors and industry observers alike.
