Central Victorian Gold-Antimony Corridor Emerges as Key Asset for Kalamazoo Resources
Central Victorian Gold-Antimony Corridor Takes Shape for Kalamazoo

Kalamazoo Resources has unveiled encouraging surface geochemical sample results from recent scout programs at three key prospects within its expansive Mt Piper gold project in Central Victoria. The findings, derived from rock chip and soil sampling, confirm robust gold-antimony mineralisation and define extensive anomalous trends spanning multiple kilometres. This reinforces the potential for a Fosterville-style epizonal gold-antimony system in the region, with epizonal deposits typically representing the shallowest zones of hydrothermal or metamorphic mineralisation, often at relatively accessible depths.

Strategic Positioning in a Prime Mining Region

The company's ground is strategically situated between Agnico Eagle Mines' renowned Fosterville deposit and Mandalay Resources' Costerfield operation, both celebrated as among the world's richest gold and antimony mines. This prime location enhances the project's viability and appeal, leveraging proximity to established, high-yield operations.

Kurkuruk Prospect Elevated to Priority Target

The latest survey results have extended and validated earlier reconnaissance work at the Kurkuruk prospect, elevating it to a priority target for Kalamazoo. Located about seven kilometres north-northwest of the historic Mt Piper antimony-gold mine, Kurkuruk features quartz veining and gossanous weathered zones linked to old workings from the early 1900s. Gossans, which are deeply weathered, altered rocks with characteristic iron staining, serve as key indicators of mineralisation. In response, the company is preparing to launch an air-core drilling program next quarter to further explore this promising area.

Whiteheads Hill Prospect and Expansion Plans

Kalamazoo's second priority, the Whiteheads Hill prospect, sits east of Seymour and approximately 20 kilometres south of Nagambie Resources' high-grade Nagambie gold-antimony mine. This area spans a north-south faulted contact in Devonian-age sediments and is considered prospective due to its structural associations and proximity to Nagambie's mineralisation. Previous soil sampling by Torrens Mining in 2021 outlined a coherent 2.6-kilometre-long gold-antimony-arsenic anomaly aligned with a fault zone, mirroring early-stage geochemical patterns seen at Nagambie. Kalamazoo plans air-core drilling to test the source of these soil responses at depth and has applied for adjacent tenure to secure up to 15 additional kilometres of prospective strike along the fault structure.

Goldie North Prospect and Historical Discoveries

The third play, Goldie North, lies about 16 kilometres southwest of Kurkuruk and 22 kilometres west of the historic Mt Piper mine. This prospect hosts shallow, high-grade gold-bearing quartz veins, with historical rock chip sampling yielding up to 74g/t gold. Previous diamond drilling by Kalamazoo also intercepted a significant 13.9g/t gold from 17.5m depth. A structural review indicates very shallow-dipping veins that previous tenement holders likely missed, prompting proposed air-core drilling to target the upper 20 metres and better evaluate near-surface potential.

Project Scale and Geological Significance

The Mt Piper project encompasses a massive 1500 square kilometres in Central Victoria, strategically positioned in the state's geologically distinct Melbourne Zone, adjacent to the eastern margin of the Bendigo Zone. Along with the Stawell Zone, these zones run north-south across south-eastern Victoria and feature a unique assemblage of globally-recognised, rich orogenic and alluvial deposits. This has historically given rise to significant mining centres such as Bendigo, Ballarat, Castlemaine, and Walhalla, underscoring the region's mining heritage and potential.

Future Outlook and Exploration Momentum

Kalamazoo's Mt Piper project is emerging as a key Victorian asset, exhibiting extensive gold-antimony anomalism in a proven world-class province. With near-term drilling planned, the company aims to unlock Fosterville, Costerfield, and Nagambie-style potential. Backed by a sprawling tenement footprint, the exploration push has substantial runway, with the scale and prospectivity to spawn multiple high-quality targets as drilling intensifies. This could potentially uncover far more than initial sampling suggests, positioning Kalamazoo for significant discoveries in the evolving gold-antimony corridor of Central Victoria.
